As a parish we are here to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. The loss of losing someone that you have loved cannot often be expressed simply by words, the pain is simply too much.
A Church of England funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed.
As Christians we believe that when we die God promises that we will be with him where death and our human frailties are gone forever. Whatever the circumstances of death these words of hope are a great comfort. Through the death on the Cross and the resurrection of Jesus Christ His Son, we know that we are all reborn and that we all ultimately will be together again giving praise to God.
Even though a funeral is a sad service it should also be a celebration. A celebration of a persons life and a celebration of them touching your own life. If you are arranging a funeral please contact The Reverend Kevin Greaves.
All Souls a Memorial Service
Once a year the parish holds a service of All Souls in November. This is when the names of loved ones are read out in church, for those who have had a Christian funeral either in church or at a crematorium, led by a member of the ministerial team from the Parish of St James the Great. The person who has arranged the funeral (usually the next of kin) will be written to in October and invited to come to the service with either family or friends to light a candle.
